Announcements:

  • Until recently (spring, 2015) Polyneoptera Species File (PSF) has used several magnorders within the hierarchy of the group. The use of these magnorders in the literature has seen a dramatic decline in recently years. PSF is not an appropriate venue in which to weigh out the uncertainty in higher classification, and its classification has been simplified to reflect this change in usage. We encourage scientists to discuss with us views on higher classification of Polyneoptera.

The Polyneoptera Species File serves as a bridge for convenient movement between several other species files. In addition, it contains some details for orders that are too small to justify a separate database and website.

To see information contained in the database, use the links across the top of the page.  Click on Search to find a specific taxon or other kinds of information.  Clicking on Taxa will make the order Plecoptera your current taxon unless you have previously moved to a different taxon in this session.

This website and database use Species File Software.  Information about the design and use of SFS may be found on a separate website.
